What Do You Want To Know About The 2018 Honda Civic Type R?

The Honda Civic Type R has been out of reach for American car fans since, well, forever. The legendary king of sport compact cars has taunted us from the far east, illegal to import stateside since it came out. But this year, that changes. And soon, we finally drive this thing.

I’m packing my coolest hoodie and Piloti flip flops right now to fly across the country and whip the new CTR around the ICAR racetrack in Montreal this weekend. That means now’s your chance to pitch specific questions about what it’s like to drive, how it’s made, and every other interesting detail you might not be able to get out of the brochure.

As always, I’ll do my best to leave some answers in the comments here and address everything I can in an upcoming shakedown writeup.

All I really want to know is, does it feel like “wrong-wheel drive” or what? Based on my experience with the Civic Si, the skim-milk version of Honda’s hot compact, I think this company knows how to make a front-wheel drive car fun. But the Type R has a lot more horsepower than the Si, and putting it all to the ground without making this car get squirrely under pressure is going to be a challenge.

I guess track time will tell. Here’s hoping the Civic Type R is a hero we won’t regret meeting.
