Financials may have had a strong run, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still more money to be made investing in banks.

In April 2017 S&P Global Market Intelligence, circulated a report to clients titled: Banking on Alpha: Uncovering Investing Signals Using SNL Bank Data.

The report set out to show investors, “empirically which investment strategies have been most predictive of bank stock returns historically.”

In other words, it attempts to set out the best metrics to use to identify the best investment ideas in the banking sector.

S&P utilized what they found to be the six most reliable metrics and applied earnings numbers reported in the first quarter of 2017 by banks to identify their top investment ideas in the sector.

Here are the top 10 banks stocks to own according to S&P Global Market Intelligence. The banks are ranked from 10 to 1.
