Apple to offer in-store photo and art workshops

Looking to hone your iPhone photography in 2016? As a way to foster the creativity of its user base, Apple will begin offering in-store workshops aimed at teaching iPhone owners the ways of iPhoneography. Whether it’s through different photography techniques or the use of professional apps, Apple’s workshops will be designed to help amateurs further develop their skills. Oh, and if you have interest in digital painting, Apple will have a class for that, too.

“We’ll help you try out various accessories and techniques—like long exposure for light trails, using Time-lapse to show progression, or getting up close with nature using a macro lens.” Apple said in a statement to CNET. “Then, we’ll explore artistic ways to adjust and edit your photos, so you can create a work of art, find your style, or just improve your skills.”

Over the past few years, Apple has really made it a point to market its mobile devices as tools for creating art, whether it’s using photos taken with an iPhone for billboard marketing, or releasing commercials demonstrating an iPad’s musical capabilities. These new classes will further encourage loyal Apple fans to create with their devices, and what better way to learn than from an Apple employee?

In addition to learning the basics of iPhone photography, Apple will offer a class for iPad artists that will teach users techniques for sketching, drawing and painting. Solid timing considering the iPad Pro, which is great for drawing, just recently released to market.

If you happen to live in New York City, CNET says some of the artists that are featured in Apple’s in-store and online galleries will make appearances to discuss their work. Workshops will be held at Apple stores across the globe, with classes set to begin in January.
