BlackBerry Priv owners get Virtual Expert testing app for Android

BlackBerry Priv owners can now take advantage of BlackBerry’s Virtual Expert tool on Android. The free download lets users check the health of their handset’s battery, and carry out a number of diagnostic tests on things like the display, camera, speakers, and more.

Virtual Expert is a tool that’s long been available on BlackBerry 10, but it was missing from Priv when the new device made its debut late last year. Now it has been ported to Android, but you’ll have to download it manually from Google Play if you want to use it.

Virtual Expert provides you with all kinds of useful information about your Priv, including its model, software, and build numbers; health and statistics about its battery, and information about Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections, storage, network, and more.

The app’s best feature, however, is its diagnostic tests, which most other smartphone manufacturers don’t provide easy access to. These enable you to verify that certain components are working correctly. On the Priv, you can test audio, camera, notifications, connectivity, UI, and its sensors.

These tests can be useful if you’re worried certain things aren’t working as they should be. By testing the speaker, for instance, you can quickly identify if any problems you’re having are indeed due to a hardware failure, or maybe just an issue with a certain app.

Should you identify any issues with your device, you can then contact BlackBerry or your carrier to get them fixed. To download Virtual Expert on your Priv, just follow the source link to the Google Play Store below.
