iPhone 5se design and Android N secrets

There’s been a debate about what the iPhone 5se is going to look like. An iPhone 5s? An iPhone 6s? Something different altogether? Turns out, it’s all of the above, with some added mustard on top.

According to leaked schematics from earlier this week, Apple’s upcoming device is going to look a lot like the iPhone 5s at first glance but feature a few keys differences. Let’s ignore the improved internals for a moment; Apple devices are never about that. Instead, we’ll talk about how the iPhone 5se’s design will compare to Apple’s current lineup.

As mentioned, the iPhone 5se looks a lot like the iPhone 5s with its combination of aluminum and glass on the back. But look closer, and the device will allegedly take some inspiration from the iPhone 6s to make the device more comfortable and easier to use.

First up, it looks like Apple is going to put the power button on the side of the device, making it much easier to reach when holding the device one-handed. The phone is expected to sport a 4-inch display, which is much smaller than the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, but placing the power button on the side winds up being better for usability.

Second, the leaked schematics suggests the display will be slightly curved, much like the iPhone 6s. That might not sound like a big deal, but it makes the device more comfortable in the hand, especially when swiping through the software. There’s something about a slight cascade that makes a substantial difference.

In other news, our first glimpse of Android N popped up this week though it’s not the in-depth look you were hoping for. Instead, the pair of leaked screenshots show off the page for Bluetooth controls, and how Google might implement hamburger-style menu buttons. What else does Google have in store for the upcoming update? That remains to be seen.

Check out the video above to hear more about these topics, and stay tuned for future developments.
