Platinum Games president and CEO resigns from his post

Japanese gaming website Game Businessis reporting the President and CEO of the popular Japanese gaming Platinum Games has stepped down from his position. According to the report, Tatsuya Minami resigned at the end of the financial year in March.

The news of Minami’s departure comes as Platinum Games prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Minami and a handful of disgruntled Capcom developers founded the company after splintering off on their own. Originally, the company featured a superstar line-up including Devil May Cry and Okami creator Hideki Kamiya, Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, and Ace Attorney producer Atsushi Inaba.

Both Inaba and developer Seigo Tabara will be promoted to managers with Minami’s leaving the company.

The resignation news also comes to us on the day that Platinum Games launches its most recent title, Star Fox Zero on the Wii U. After this release, the studio’s other projects include NieR: Automata, Scalebound, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan.

Nobody likes to hear about trouble in paradise, but that’s just sometimes how it goes. In the meantime, Platinum Games still has plenty of talent left to continue making the best action games on the market.
