PlayStation VR could come to the PC, according to Sony

PlayStation VR is set to make its debut on the PlayStation 4 this October. Pre-orders have begun, and the virtual reality headset has been tough to keep in preemptive stock.

Sony’s already talking about what might be next for PSVR. One possible avenue for expansion? The PC platform.

The company spoke with Japanese outlet Nikkei, as picked up by SegmentNext. Here’s the translation they offer.

Since Playstation 4 shares a lot of its internals with PCs, the possibility is there. At the moment we are focused on games and we are not ready to make any announcements at this stage, but I’d say there will be an expansion into various fields.

Sony’s not ready to make any announcements yet, but the nature of the engineering behind both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR makes it totally feasible that expansion onto the PC platform is possible.

If PlayStation VR takes off as a brand and product, we could see the device push into all sorts of sectors of gaming and entertainment. TV? Mobile? You name it.
