Rise of the Kasai may be the next PS2 game to hit PlayStation 4

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Sony’s initiative to put more PS2 games on the PlayStation 4, and with the majority of them being owned by Sony itself, one would think that it is running out of steam. Either that, or at least having a hard time convincing third-party companies to go back and re-tweak their older games to add trophy support and other modern commodities.

Case in point, after a small break in releases, the first game to make an appearance is another Sony published title, Rise of the Kasai. Sony has not confirmed the release just yet, but a trademark filing and the trophies appearing on PlayStation Network all but assure that this game will be released in the near future.

Rise of the Kasai is the sequel to the PlayStation 2 cult-classic, Mark of Kri, which is already available as a PS2 Classic on the PlayStation 4. I can’t speak for Rise of the Kasai because I’ve never played it. Back in the day, I didn’t like Mark of Kri enough to even consider picking up the sequel. And seeing how Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud are still staring at me from my television screen every time I turn the console on, I’m not willing to drop money on it now either.

Fans don’t hold it in quite as high regard, but that could be because it’s a sequel to a sleeper hit. In most cases, that is a recipe for a lot of backlash, no matter how many improvements are made.

Again, it’s just a rumor until Sony confirms it, but all signs point to a huge “Yes” on this one.
