You Wished Hard Enough And Now The Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Is Real

The ravishing Aston Martin Vanquish as rebodied by the Italian dreamweavers at Zagato bowed at the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza last month as a showpiece. As in “look, don’t touch” forever. But today it’s been confirmed that a few lucky owners will be able to take one home and get their grubby mitts all over it.

Zagato is sort of like one of the original ultralux automotive aftermarket outfits. They take existing platforms and add their own little touches, or completely redesign a car’s body. This Vanquish will be the fifth thing they make out of an Aston Martin.


“The collaboration with Zagato began with the beautifully muscular DB4 GT Zagato racing car of 1960 – now valued at over £10 million -, and includes the V8 Vantage Zagato launched in 1986, the 2002 DB7 Vantage Zagato and the V12 Vantage Zagato revealed in 2011,” as explained in a press release.

99 copies will be “made to order,” though Auto Express claims every one is already spoken for- at a speculated price tag of $733,000 each.

Besides the big redesign, Zagato variants will get about a 24 horsepower bump from the regular Aston Martin Vanquish.

But the styling is the main selling point. “The new bodywork is entirely shaped from carbon-fibre, with the split lines on the body significantly reduced by the use of large one-piece panels,” Aston Martin states. So basically: do not dent this thing. Instead, let’s just drool on it:
