Alexa, what’s my balance? Bank feature comes to Amazon Echo

The Amazon Echo keeps getting smarter and smarter and, on Friday, it gained support for banking features. Capital One said that its customers can now use the Amazon Echo to execute a quick query on credit card information. Some examples include:

“Alexa, ask Capital One for my Quicksilver Card balance.”

“Alexa, ask Capital One for recent transactions on my checking account”

“Alexa, ask Capital One when is my credit card payment due?”

“Alexa, ask Capital One to pay my credit card bill.”

Capital One said that customers who opt to pay a credit card bill by voice can do so using a pre-linked funding account, which should make things easier. Things might get a bit weird if you have friends or family over who know this command, especially if you want to hide your debt, but it’s a really cool and unique feature. We wonder how long it will take for other banks to offer similar options – that shouldn’t be too hard, especially since the Amazon Echo has an open platform for developers.

Capital One users should find the Capital One option inside the Alexa app now.
