Apple investigating inaccurate battery data on iPhone 6s, 6s Plus

Apple has confirmed it is “investigating” an issue that causes incorrect battery percentage data to be displayed on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The bug appears to affect devices with the time and date set manually, and when switching between time zones.

“If you change the time on your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus manually or change time zones when traveling, you might notice that the battery percentage doesn’t update,” reads a new Apple support document. “Apple is aware of this issue and is investigating the cause and a solution.”

In the meantime, the Cupertino company recommends restarting your device, then ensuring that the time and date are set to update automatically. This should fix the issue — at least until your device changes time zones again.

If you use this workaround and the bug manifests itself again and you didn’t change time zones, it is recommended you contact Apple Support.

It’s unclear how long it will take Apple to fix this problem — or if it is present in the new iOS 9.3 beta that was rolled out to testers last week. But we hope to see an update from the company soon. If you have an older iPhone, you should not be affected.
